ARTIST STATEMENT

I find strength and inspiration in the regenerative power and beauty of the natural world, and in the ways that people hold each other up, hold each other close, and celebrate. As the struggles, uncertainty, violence, and pain of recent years keep my head and heart spinning, these have been sources of solace. My work, whether representational or abstract, explores the fragility and the resilience of human beings and of the natural world, and the duality of alienation and intimacy, grief and elation.

BIO

Leslie Boden works primarily in oil and mixed media, experimenting with surfaces and materials. She studies with Eleanor Grace Miller and David Fox. Additional workshops and classes with Karen O’Neill (Art Students League), Satish Joshi, and Provincetown artists Pete Hocking, Laura Shabott, and Larry Horowitz. A consciousness of the complexity and inherent tensions in human and environmental conditions and the importance of amplifying unrecognized voices, reinforced through decades of work focused on building vibrant, healthy communities, also find expression in her art. Boden is delighted and challenged by the limitless discoveries and possibilities in art-making.
